A Typical Day
What a typical day looks like at Giggles Playschool
This is a broad overview of our daily routine, however it is not rigid and time is given where it is needed or wanted by the children.
Giggles Opens
9.00 am
Meet & Greet
9:00 am – 9:30 am
Welcoming children and parents/carers, settling in time and catching up on news from the previous day.
Free Play
9.30 am – 10.30 am
Children engage in activities of their choice. Children are free to choose whether they play indoors or outdoors.
During this time teachers may take small groups of children for art and crafts/projects etc.
Preparation for lunch
10.30 am – 10.45 am
Preparation for lunch which involves the children in putting away toys, setting the tables and washing hands before we eat.
Lunch
10.45 am – 11.15 am
This time-frame is flexible. Children choose whether they prefer to eat indoors or enjoy a picnic lunch outdoors. Lunchtime is flexible as children become hungry at different times and there is no time limit, as children are encouraged to enjoy this social experience and interact with other.
Outdoor Play
11.15 am – 11.45 am
Children who have not already played outdoors are encouraged to do so during this time.
Storytime
11.45 am – 12.00 pm
We gather together at the end of the morning to enjoy a story, sing a song, learn a nursery rhyme or have a chat about a particular topic. We put on our coats and gather our belongings for home time.
Giggles Closes
12.00 pm

PatEvery day is different
Every day is different at Giggles as we follow the emerging and changing interests of the children. When children are deeply engaged in an activity, we give them all the time they need, we don’t intrude when “Deep level learning” is occurring! We believe that children are active agents in directing their own learning and our role is to facilitate their needs and interests.
